Rurouni Kenshin : The Wandering Samurai

Sanosuke Sagara

Sanosuke is about 19 years old, is 179 cm tall, has black hair and eyes and weighs 71 kg. Sanosuke at the age of ten joined the Sekihou Tai, a civilian army that came through his hometown in Kyoto. They had promised the peasants that if the imperialists had won the war that they would be given new land because that was what they had been told when they joined the Imperialist army. The leader of the Sekihou Tai, Souzou Sagara, was a kind man that took Sanosuke under his wing and treated Sanosuke like a little brother. Sanosuke idolized Sagara and took the captain's last name as his own, Sanosuke Sagara.

However near the end of the war they found out they had been set up by the government that they served and were sentenced to death for the spread of false promises. The Sekihou Tai was wiped out but Sagara saved Sanosuke's life sacrificing his own. After this incident Sanosuke could not forget that the Sekihou Tai was used by the Imperialists and cruelly thrown away. He became a mercenary to hopefully one day avenge his leader's death, he became a ruffian to grow stronger and beat up people for money.

He lived in Tokyo where he met Kenshin Himura, who changed everything. Sanosuke was hired to kill Kenshin but was defeated by him. Sanosuke came to understand Kenshin and respect him even though he was an imperialist.
